3 Reasons Why KickStarter Projects Fail

I love kickstarter.  Recently I funded the LOIRP project and actually got an original negative back from the project as promised.

Today I decided to cruise around kickstarter and ended up wondering what the turning point was between a succesfully funded project (most projects that are succesful are OVER-funded greatly) and a project that never cut the cheese.

1) Shitty product

2) OK Product, but shitty video

Did the world stop thirsting for a new water bottle? It’s features are pretty good, but it’s tough to spot the small text in the video about the features.  The kickstarter portal feels sloppy.  who are all these people?  Why do i care about these people?  Why wasn’t i invited to their party?

3) unreasonable funding expectations

90 G’s for that?  Come on.  Don’t use Kickstarter as some kind of a walmart-level-inventory system.

Have any studies been done about what percentage of KickStarter projects turn into vapourware or the equivalent tangible product?

How many, if any, KickStarter projects are scams from the start?

I can’t find anyone who has covered that possibility in an article. How about it Real World Numbers?
